"Manang to Yak Kharka"

Climbing up the trail, up, up we saw huge eagle like bird with a massive wing span. There are now no trees at all but lots of snow. We are in Yak country now and hope to see one as we do a short hike up the trail to gain some altitude. Views of the mountain peaks are awesome but some are obscured by clouds that we all are hoping are not bringing more snow. We decided to walk up the trail past Yak Kharka to Churi Lettar and were happy to see a great herd of yaks that we got some photos of. We gained some altitude to the point that we all started to feel some effects. Brock's head is pounding and a bit of a headache is bugging Alan. I am feeling my heart pounding in my ears and temples but it got better when we went back down. On the way down we stopped to get more yaks photos. Alan and I climbed up to get closer to the big hairy ones. The whole valley is covered in snow but hiking in the bright sunlight is still very hot. It was a good idea to gain the height and we could all feel the symptoms go away quickly after a short time going back down. Alan went for a nap while Brock and I went to the heated dining area and talked to our fellow trekkers. We ordered chocolate pudding with apple fritters which were fantastic. The pudding was hot and we dipped the apples into the steaming chocolate mmmmm.  We played cards and drank tea with some Dutch trekkers. Alan came up after the nap and we had dinner, I ordered the requisite Dhal Baht but I find it is not spicy enough for me plus it is way too much food to finish. We played cards until time for bed at which time all the porters came in to sleep in the dining area near the stove.
