"Yak Kharka to Throng Phedi"

We lucked in today, one of Ananda's porter friends went on ahead and booked us in at the "Throng Phedi Base camp Hotel". Things are getting busy with people being slowed down by the weather so getting a room was a priority. We are now at 4540 meters and all of us are feeling it to some extent but really still not too bad. It was a fairly hard climb up and busy. The trails are very snow covered and icy and we needed to be very careful as we descended down to cross the river. Along the way we stopped to watch a herd of musk deer above us on a bad landslide area. The hotel here is very big and very busy, lots of people jammed in here for an extra day or two due to the snow. We are seeing lots of people turning around and going back down. We made it here by 11;45 am and had lunch before we all took a nap. I actually slept!! After waking up we decided to hike up the trail to gain a bit of altitude. It is a vast valley below us. We stopped to take many photos above Throng Phedi then headed back to the lodge for dinner and tea. We played euchre and chatted with all the other trekkers getting excited about the big day tomorrow. Everyone is abuzz and many are not feeling well. Ananda hooked us up with some extra warm blankets while we discussed our plans. We decided on a 3:00 am wake up, breakfast of vegetable noodle soup and black tea at 3:30 am.
