"Kathmandu to the trek"
Up very early, probably in the middle of the night but I am unsure as I have no watch and there are no clocks in the room. I did a complete repack and moved my sleeping bag to the top and jackets to the bottom....Ready to trek! I watched the city wake up from a full moon. I got on the internet and was able to send an update home. I woke up the guys and then went to have wonderful Nepali tea. Breakfast in the garden and then a walk to the shops. We got two set of poles for only $20.00 US. What a city, we walked up and down the many streets, so much to see. I love this place! We had incredible soup, chicken thukpa, hot and spicy!
In the car to Besi sahar, what a trip up and down the valley. Stuck in traffic with passing trucks spewing black exhaust right into our faces. It took just over 5 hours to go 100 kms and get to Besi sahar. Checked in at the Tukuche Peak Hotel and got a 3 bed room for 700 Rupees. We met an English couple who had quit their jobs as teachers to travel. Good dinner of chicken curry, cheese naan and vegetable bhaji. Tried a few types of beer, again they are all in quarts bottles. Partied with Simon the Englishman. He was feeling rough the next day while we were totally fine. Brock left his camera, visa and debit card in the car and it all went missing! He was pissed. He had to use a satellite phone to call home and cancel all his cards.
